"Visionary Artist" Antique Print Series De La Cruz signed

This is a collage with mixed media on an original photogravure by American artist Jerry De La Cruz (b 1948, Denver, CO) from his “Antique Print Series.” The image itself is 9.75” high by 7.25” wide. The paper is 13” high by 10” wide.
The subject is a surreal vision of an artist with his client. It begins with a 19
th
century etched drawing of a poorly clad artist chatting with his “client,” a gentleman in a Napoleonic era outfit. They are standing in front of a portrait, which De La Cruz has transformed into a large poster of the movie “Star Wars.” The artist is speaking and De La Cruz has added a large cartoon speech balloon which fills up the entire top of the work. It is filled with a brilliantly purple night sky, complete with stars and planets. The palette is the monochrome of the photogravure with the deep purples and blues of the added night sky.
The work is titled “Visionary Artist.” It is in pristine condition and signed front lower left by De La Cruz. (Image of work framed for sizing perspective only.)
