This is an ORIGINAL, vintage press / campaign book for the sixties movie: "GO-GO BIG BEAT." This obscure film, which was released in 1965, featured the music of several popular British artists of the day, but primarily capitalized on the popularity of The BEATLES. The last third of the movie was billed as "MODS and ROCKERS" and used Beatles songs that were recorded by a group called "The Cheynes." The PROBLEM was that "The Beatles" name was prominently featured on the movie posters, misleading many to believe that they would appear in the film. In addition, the Beatles songs featured, WERE NEVER AUTHORIZED FOR USE! Under threat of legal action, the film was quickly pulled from theaters, and was forgotten about for twenty years. In the 1980's, it resurfaced on VHS and again later on DVD - but BOTH versions were released WITHOUT the final third of the film, which featured the "Mods and Rockers" section and the Beatles music. This pressbook was printed in 1965 for the FIRST (and probably ONLY) official U.S. release of the film. The cover is a full page image of the one-sheet poster, and reads: "GO-GO BIG BEAT! IT'S THE BIGGEST BEAT IN BEATLE-LAND...Featuring MODS and ROCKERS With Music by THE BEATLES...McCartney - Lennon - Harrison...Hear These Beatles Greats! "Please Please Me" / "From Me To You" / "Bad To Me" / "I Want To Be Your Man" / "This Boy" / "She Loves You" / "Don't Bother Me"...For All You Swingers Hear! Hear! MILLIE SMALL - THE FOUR PENNIES - LULU AND THE LUVERS - THE MERSEYBEATS - THE WACKERS - THE HOLLIES." When folded, the pressbook measures 16 & 1/2 x 10 inches. It opens to 16 & 1/2 x 30 inches. Inside, it features MORE bands whose music is in the film, including: THE SWINGING BLUE JEANS, THE COCKNEYS, BRIAN POOLE AND THE TREMELOES & THE APPLEJACKS. There are also articles, which could be sent to newspapers to promote the film, and suggestions for theater owners showing the movie - not to mention LOTS of scantily clad women in suggestive poses, and guys on motorcycles! In addition, there are "ad slicks", which could be cut out and sent to newspapers with show times and dates. The overall condition is FINE to EXCELLENT. Nothing has been cut out. The press book is COMPLETE with no tears, writing or pin holes. This booklet is guaranteed the old & original - made in 1965 - or your money back. A GREAT piece of sixties music history!
