Description
One Sturdy Rubber Thrusting Tip- Your choice of Low Profile or Two Handed SwordThis goodly Rubber Thrusting Tip designed is specifically made for SCA and heavy combat. Made of a sturdy vulcanized rubber it is tough and presents a neat finished appearance to your sword with a single piece stout injection molded construction. These have been designed to be deliver a telling blow while at the same time have an inner crush space supported by high quality EVA foam that moderates the severity of the blow for the safety of the recipient. These designs are widely accepted through the Known Worlde and
most Kingdoms so
can help a weapon pass inspection more quickly. Please check with your marshal to confirm compliance with your area.
There are two varieties:
The Low Profile/Single hand sword tip measures 2 1/2" long x 1 1/2" wide (outside diameter) across the thrusting surface. Included 2 foam discs for rules compliance (see *1 below for citation). This is intended to fit a stick of rattan of about 1 1/4" in diameter or perhaps just a bit larger (since it is made of rubber). Don't be crazy and shove a too huge stick in! At only 1 1/4 ounces, this is a superior solution for installing onto your single sword.
The Two Handed Sword Tip measures 3 3/4" long x 2"
wide (outside diameter) across the thrusting surface.
Included 6 foam discs for rules compliance (see *2 below for citation).
This is intended to fit a stick of rattan of about 1 1/2" in diameter or perhaps just a bit larger. And yes, this is not something you will shove a too huge stick into! At just under 4 ounces, this is a robust and well designed tool for delivering a positive yet safe thrust kill with your great sword.
In appearance, they are a mostly smooth black surface.
They're specifically designed and manufactured for SCA combat, with a large dollar investment and many hours invested in design, mold costs, and prototype runs. If you haven't seen one, you haven't seen anything like it.
Rules Citation:

Assembly Instructions:
( Sent with each tip but you will always have a copy here to refer to even if you ditch the packaging)
Insert some discs of foam into the inside of your new Thrusting Tip.
Cut your rattan stave to a 90 degree angle and round the edge according to SCA rules.
Place the tip onto the rattan and test for give.
Evaluate the 'give' of the tip. Add or remove foam to dial in the tips firmness.
Affix the tip onto the rattan with one layer of glass filament tape running parallel to the length of the rattan. Note: There are lines on the outside of the tip. Tape to the Fourth line for our recommended construction. Be sure that the tape passes the edge of the tip and down the rattan several inches.
Apply a second, layer of glass filament tape in a spiral over the first layer.
Cover the filament tape with your choice of duct tape.
Over time, the foam may deteriorate and need to be replaced.
