This auction is for a goodly Leather Shield Strapping Kit useful for the secure management and handling of a medieval shield for SCA and WMA heavy combat. Made of a 10-11 oz sealed bridle or latigo leather, it is extremely tough and nearly indestructible given it's solid construction. These straps are the product of our custom belt shop and deliver superior quality long lasting leather fasteners that will surely exceed your expectations. It is all too common for inferior strapping to fail leading up to or in combat. While for some this is simply a nuisance, for most this small problem results in the fighting day being ended prematurely for a comparatively minor detail. Dark Victory Armory has been making strap based products for more than 30 years, so we have every confidence that our shield straps will deliver great reliable performance when fighting on the field for a very long time.
Current strap styles:
Hand Strap
This 9" x 1" wide leather handle strap is primarily intended for mounting on a center grip shield of all sizes. We intend the shield to be drilled with holes just slightly narrower than the wielder's hand so that the straps can come up and over the palm running a little more distal on the thumb side and more proximal on the pinkie side. This diagonal mounting is best for male hand geometry, females may want to mount straight across the palm.
Hand and Buckled Arm Strap
This includes the 1" Hand Strap along with a well crafted 1 1/2" Roller Buckle Strap with Keeper and the matching Tongue Strap punched with a range of holes to fit all sizes. Our typical overall measurement of the buckle strap set has an overall length of  15" but can be cinched down to fit just about any arm. Mount the arm strap directly across the thickest part of the forearm and stay clear of the inside of the elbow.
Hand and Loop Strap
This includes the 1" Hand Strap along with a similarly well crafted 1 1/2" Loop of Leather that is typically 12" but can be adjusted upon request to any reasonable dimension. Mount the arm strap directly across the thickest part of the forearm and stay clear of the inside of the elbow. This makes for an easy grab and go shield that can be dropped quickly in combat at the sacrifice of the precision control of a buckle strapped shield shield. Perfect for Larping.
Fasteners
We include 3/4" #9 copper rivets and burrs for use in mounting with a hammer.  Optionally we can send longer (up to 1 1/2") or shorter. If you don't know how long you need: measure your shield, add 1/4" for the strap and a little spacing. Remember longer is ok since you'll trim off the excess before mounting but shorter really doesn't work. We can also send Chicago Screws (message us) if you'd prefer but please use some threadlocker or even Elmers Glue to make sure that they don't loosen up in combat.
