Dr. Mütter was famous for performing surgeries including tumor removal, adjustments of cleft palates, and rhinoplasty among others. In a modern day sense, he was quite similar to a plastic surgeon. He is the one we can all thank for originally donating his personal collection of specimens for study, making the Mütter Museum what it is today!
