    Description

    Republic F-105D Thunderchief "Mary Kay"
"The Thud" became the workhorse of the bombing campaign against the Communist North during the Vietnam War, often having to claw its way through the deadly defenses of SAM missiles and MiG fighters thrown up to stop it. The F-105 was not without claws of its own, and several MiG kills were credited to the much heavier fighter-bomber.
Depicted in this image is the F-105D named "Mary Kay" by its pilot, Col Paul Seymour (RET.), in honor of his wife. Flying with the 35TH TFS in 1967 as a Major, Seymour completed 100 Missions over Vietnam. This aircraft was credited with downing 3 MiG-17s (the type pictured here) during the war, none by Seymour. Though only credited with one "Probable" and one "Damaged" Mig-17, Seymour claimed four possible kills, in April and May ,1967.
This image was commissioned for Mr. Seymour by Jake McInerney as a personal gift from his family.
